A SFOC from Transport Canada 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 be approved "within days". What they posted is misleading, " Sometimes I can get approved within days, but I wouldn't leave that to chance". Ask that operator for the proof! I have not heard of any legal RPAS operator across Canada having a SFOC approved if it was submitted with less than 30 working days prior, and I have wrote a few SFOC's. Please note a Flight Authorization Request is seperate from a SFOC.
𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 — 𝗥𝗣𝗔𝗦 (a SFOC) states in part:
- 𝗥𝗣𝗔𝗦 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟯𝟬 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.
You have every right to ask an operator to see their lawfully required to be with them RPAS Pilot Certificate, the SFOC from Transport Canada (if applicable) & (if applicable) the Flight Authorization from NAV CANADA, especially at an advertised open to the public event. If you need to see an actual one of any of those I'd be happy to show you my valid certificate and legitimate examples of a SFOC & Flight Authorization for reference.
